The head office of the group is located at 8A Queensway, Central Business District, Hong Kong SAR, with branches at 6F Shui Po Street, Foshan District, Guangdong Province. The headquarters are run by management and local branches, which have been jointly managed by a board of directors and two committees: one for academic matters (including funding and support for scholarships), and another for people and society (including research and development, alumni events and community involvement).
Scholarships are administered under four main disciplines:
arts, humanities and literary studies; engineering and computer sciences;
Social science and humanities;
and sports, economics and law.
Each discipline has its own committee, headed by members from that field. The fund is highly selective; only about 15% of the total number of applications are accepted. A panel of independent judges evaluates each application based on qualifications, experience in the chosen area of study, personal qualities and contributions to the college or university, besides other relevant factors (such as work experience, extracurricular activities and so on). Applicants must also meet certain criteria to be eligible for funds. There are also some special scholarships, such as fellowships and teaching fellowships. Some outstanding professionals were awarded these awards.
The foundation of the scholarship program is established according to the idea of "Chinese Characteristics" ("Chinese excellence", "Chinese education", etc.) through several initiatives. Such efforts include establishment and promotion of various organizations.
For example, there is the Department of International Education and Culture in Tsinghua University;
Shanghai Institute of Cultural Affairs and Humanities;
Renmin University of China; Jilin University;
Beibu Academy College of Fine Arts and Design,
Chongqing Agricultural Engineering School; Zhuhai Provincial Key Laboratory of Innovation;
and others. Other examples of good programs are
Nanjing High-tech University,
Yunnan University,
Beijing Normal University Foundation, Peking University;
and Tianjin Municipal University of National Natural Science and Technology. These departments of culture and education provide numerous resources for both undergraduate and graduate degree and professional training. At present, a large number of scholars are involved in their studies in various fields from different countries, among whom more than 1,800 individuals receive financial assistance. This figure accounts for less than 2% of the total population of higher education in China.
In recent years, many young people in China have begun to focus on global careers. More universities are joining hands and doing what they can to attract foreign talents and encourage them to choose China. With more international scholarship awards, this trend has become common, especially for cultural and creative fields like Chinese language, literature, art, poetry, music, sculpture, cinema, photography, dance and design, and other forms. Because universities and colleges play an important role in building human capital, they should not underestimate how much foreign talent could be accumulated if they pay attention to the importance of student learning abroad. One way of achieving this goal is to promote youth exchange (transportation) among Chinese universities, international schools and businesses. In recent years, the government has taken several measures to improve the interaction between academia and industry. Foreign investors, both domestic and foreign, now have more opportunities for investment in our country. We must make full use of existing facilities such as airports, sea ports, highways, educational institutions and other infrastructure to promote trade and help create employment for the youth. The expansion of knowledge requires collaboration across industries, cultures and borders in order to increase the pool of high-quality professionals. I believe that when we achieve greater openness, diversity and integration, we will develop in ways that benefit humanity. Without a doubt, we have done something very good and meaningful. Let's leave no one behind!
